Angel’s Arms Assistant — Part‑Time (Sundays Only) Northminster Presbyterian Church • Peoria, IL Pay: $18/hr (first 90 days), then $19/hr
Northminster is launching a Christ‑centered support ministry for children with special needs, and we’re looking for a compassionate, dependable Angel’s Arms Assistant to join our team. This role helps children ages 3–11 experience worship, learning, and belonging in a safe, loving environment while their families participate in Sunday activities.
About the Role
The Angel’s Arms Assistant provides hands‑on support to children with a wide range of physical, developmental, behavioral, and sensory needs. You’ll work directly with families and the Angel’s Arms Coordinator to ensure each child is cared for with dignity, patience, and Christ‑like love.
This position is every Sunday, 7:30 a.m.–11:15 a.m., and requires reliable attendance.
What You’ll Do
Offer individualized care and supervision for children in the program
Support participation in worship, Sunday School, and transitions
Follow parent‑provided care plans and safety procedures
Assist with mobility, communication, sensory needs, and calming strategies
Help with toileting, hygiene, and eating when trained and required
Monitor for distress, illness, or behavioral changes and communicate promptly
Uphold confidentiality, child‑protection policies, and two‑adult supervision
Complete required documentation and incident reports
Participate in special‑needs, safety, and mandated‑reporter training
