  • Kevin Curtin – Director

    Kevin is a retired public school educator having spent 25 years as an Elementary School Principal. He joined Northminster as the Learning Center Director in July 2013. After growing up in the northwest suburbs of Chicago, Kevin moved to Peoria in 1980 following his graduation from Illinois State University. He and his wife, Lindy, celebrated their 34rd anniversary in July 2017. They have four children: Mackenzie (Mike) Morey of Palatine, Illinois; Bailey (Mark) Bevill of Iowa City, Iowa; Sullivan (Laura) of Chicago; and Peyton who is a Senior at the University of Illinois.


    Kevin received his Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from Illinois State University in May 1980. He also holds a Master’s Degree in Educational Administration from ISU which he received in August, 1986.

  • Michelle Lundquist – Associate Director

    Michelle came to Northminster as a lead teacher in Discovery Preschool in August of 2004. She then became Associate Director in July 2013. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education from Illinois College. She received her certification in Deaf Education from MacMurrray College. Michelle has been trained in Project Work, Work Sampling,, Documentation, Second Step, and Godly Play. She has presented at NAEYC (National Association for the Education of Young Children) among other conferences. Michelle completed her Master’s Degree in Teaching and Leadership at St. Xavier University in 2010.  


    Michelle also married her husband Tyler in 2010. She has a son, Nolan, who attends Northminster's Discovery Preschool and a daughter, Mia, who was born Dec.14th, 2015.

  • Doree Bonn – Full-Day Preschool/Summer Camp

    Doree has over 12 years of early childhood experience in both Missouri and Illinois. Doree joined the Northminster staff in June 2011 and worked at our Summer Camp. She has three years of ministry training. She is also trained in Documentation as well as the Work Sampling system. She has been an assistant for Curiosity Corner and Multi-Age Kindergarten at Northminster and is currently an assistant for Full-day Preschool as well as a Summer Camp instructor. Doree is married to Chris, and they have three boys.

  • Patti Budds – Lead Teacher, Discovery Preschool

    Patti is a graduate of Indiana Wesleyan with a Bachelor's Degree in Christian Education. Before coming to Northminster, she worked in Childcare/Preschool for ten years. She started at Northminister in 2013 as support staff. She was then a substitute teacher for a couple of years becoming a lead Teacher of Discovery Preschool in 2015. She has a husband, James, and two sons Sean and Alex.  

  • Tera Hammond – Discovery Preschool/After School Program

    Tera has been a teacher in the After School program since September of 2010. She graduated from Bradley with a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education. Tera previously taught kindergarten in the Bartonville and Eureka School Districts. Tera joined the Early Childhood Staff in 2012 as an Associate Teacher in Discovery Preschool and then became a Lead Teacher in 2013. Tera lives in Bartonville with her son Tyler, daughter Stephanie, and husband Steve.  

  • Lori Hirth – Associate Teacher, Discovery Preschool   

    Lori Hirth joined Northminster Learning Center in the Fall of 2013, serving first as a Lunchroom Assistant. Then she served as a staff support person with a wide range of responsibilities. She has now joined the Early Childhood Staff as an Associate Teacher. She and her husband, Bob, have four children and reside in Dunlap. She absolutely loves working with each and every child.

  • Kim Holdham – Office Manager

    Kim joined the Learning Center staff in September 2013. She and husband Chris moved to Peoria from Calgary, Canada in 1998. Kim’s career in Calgary encompassed 18 years as a Human Resources Administrator for Petro Canada and the Calgary Stampede/Calgary Flames. She has a certificate from the University of Calgary’s Tourism/Hospitality Management Program (Marketing major), and a diploma from Southern Alberta Institute of Technology’s Business Administration program (Human Resources major). Since 1998, Kim has pursued her passion of directing children’s theater productions (60 in total), most recently as music director of The Penguin Project.

    She and husband Chris recently celebrated 26 years of marriage, and are the proud parents of Laura, Trevor, and Michelle. Kim recently has become a grandma to a grandson, Desmond.   

  • Mary HurtAssociate Teacher, Curiosity Corner/Discovery Preschool

    Mary joined the Northminster Learning Center team in the summer of 2012, as she was a teacher for our Summer Camp program. Mary has over 20 years of experience working with toddlers and preschool age children and came to us from Head Start. Mary has received training in Conscious Discipline and Documentation. She enjoys her time with the toddler learners at Northminster as the Associate Teacher for Curiosity Corner. She is also a Discovery Preschool Associate Teacher in the afternoons.   

  • Pamella Morris – Associate Teacher, Discovery Preschool

    Pam serves the NLC as an Associate Teacher. She has been teaching preschool for over 29 years. She holds an Associate's Degree in Applied Science and Child Development from Illinois Central College. She and her husband, Dan, have two children, Jacob and Danielle. She enjoys playing guitar, running and going for walks with her husband when she has free time. She says she feels most blessed to be a part of the NLC family.

  • Sarah Ritscher – Lead Teacher, Curiosity Corner/Discovery Preschool

    Sarah graduated from Illinois State University in 2008 with a degree in Elementary Education with an emphasis in Reading. She worked as an instructional aide for Creve Coeur District #76 for one year and then moved to East Peoria District #86 for three years where she worked as a special education instructional aide. Sarah also attended Eureka College in 2010–2011 and acquired an endorsement in special education. Sarah joined Northminster Learning Center in 2012 and is the Lead Teacher for our youngest learners in Curiosity Corner. She also teaches a 3-day Discovery Preschool Class in the afternoon. Sarah has been trained in the Work Sampling System and Conscious Discipline.

  • Jessica Stanton – Kindergarten

    Jessica holds a Bachelors Degree in Early Childhood Education from Bradley University, which includes Special Education Approval, and has been in the early childhood field for over 22 years. She has been trained in The Project Approach by Dr. Judy Harris Helm and is passionate about promoting active inquiry in the classroom. She has taught at Northminster Learning Center since 2005 in classrooms serving toddlers, mixed age preschool, and kindergarten. Jessica shares her commitment to lifelong learning by sharing with others in the education field as a presenter at local, state and national education conferences on topics which include supporting emergent writers, children and nature, early childhood environments and documenting children's work. She lives in Peoria with her husband of 21 years, Scott and her two teenage sons.

  • Carolyn St. John – Lead Teacher, Discovery Preschool

    Carolyn joined the NLC staff in August 2013. She has degrees in Early Childhood Education and Elementary Education from the University of Illinois. Additionally, she has completed coursework at the University of Illinois in Early Childhood Special Education and has also earned 120 Continuing Professional Development Units in "Best Practices in Early Childhood Education." Mrs. St. John has two children: Lee and Minnie.

  • Cari O'Dea – Lead Teacher, Discovery Preschool

    Cari joined our early childhood program this year as a full-day preschool teacher and is also helping in the Aftercare Program. She graduated from Bradley in 2016 with her BS in Early Childhood Education with a Special Education approval.  

  • Jen Tarabulski – Associate Teacher/Extended Day, Discovery Preschool

    Jen received her Bachelor's Degree from Iowa State in Elementary Education. Then she obtained her Master's Degree in Computers in Education from SUNY New Paltz, NY. Jen has been a substitute teacher at Northminster since her son, Seth, was in Curiosity Corner in 2012. Prior to that, she taught 4th grade in Pawling, NY for two years, high school and college at Ozards Technical Community College in Springfield, MO for five years, computer classes for 6-8 graders at Newtown Middle School in CT for ten years, and computer classes fror 6-8 graders at Bloomington Middle School for three years. Her husband, TJ, works for CAT in Mossville and Seth (8 yrs.) is in second grade at South School in Chillicothe.
